Hi there! I am a fourth year pre-service teacher at the University of Sydney with English and TESOL (EAL/D) as my teaching areas. I have completed two professional experiences at SCCHS and Evans IEC, respectively. As part of my studies, I have developed a text-based approach to teaching literacy—a strategy that greatly benefits low literacy and EAL/D learners who struggle to produce texts correctly and with confidence. Furthermore, I am currently undertaking research into translanguaging practices used in English language classrooms as part of my honours dissertation at Usyd. My praxis, being informed by this research, encourages students to bring additional languages into their learning to support their understanding and engagement with classroom content, an approach that has proven most advantageous to EAL/D learners.
