About the company
Knots and Knives is owned and operated by myself, Will Iblings. I offer a wide range of high end woodworking products and custom hand forged knives. I specialize in epoxy/wood charcuterie boards, coasters, necklaces, large live edge tables, and everything in between. I also offer many types of knives from hunting and skinning to EDC and kitchen. I am now offering beginner forging classes that allow for the unique creation of your very own knife, bottle opener or BBQ fork that you forge out of a railroad spike! I aim to provide a fun and safe environment where people are allowed to learn and experience a new skill and hobby. With small class sizes and personalized teaching you will leave with a smile on your face and a one of a kind treasure in your hand. If you manage to finish the forging of your item ahead of time you can learn to throw an axe like a pro on the 15'x15' axe throwing wall! At Knots and Knives I aim to provide a fun, safe and unique experience for you to enjoy! With the beginners forging class you are offered 3 different items to forge and take home - a knife, a bottle opener, or a barbecue fork. You will begin with a standard railroad spike and leave with a one of a kind, practical, hand made item that you created!
You will be trained in many aspects of forging/metalworking. Including the basics of metallurgy and what happens when you heat up and cool down metal, how to draw out, bend, twist, drift and finish metal. Also covered are the fundamental skills of how to swing a forging hammer, and how to use many tools including high power belt sanders, grinders, anvils, and many others.
Forging can be enjoyed by people of any age! But do keep in
mind that you will be in a high heat environment and be using muscles that a
lot of people don’t often use. I will be there to assist in any way I can and
will do my best to have all customers leave with a finished product. Pricing is $80 per person with 4 people attending, $90 per person with groups of 3 and $100 per person for 2 people. Payment can be made via cash or check day of event or online payments ahead of time are welcome as well. If time allows there is a 15ftx15ft axe throwing area as well that will be available with many types of axes and hatchets.
