We visit the Airborne Museum and of course the bridge itself, passing many important spots where key events of the battle took place. Anne Frank's famous diary ends a few days before she, and the others, were suddenly arrested and put on transport, ultimately to her death.

In a one-day tour outside Amsterdam we will take you to Camp Westerbork, the transit camp from where Anne Frank, and more than a 100.000 Jewish people with her were sent to Auschwitz and other camps. Not many would return.

By following her footsteps, we will learn about many more people, places and events to tell the story of the German occupation of the Netherlands during World War 2.

By visiting the sites and telling the stories of normal people under extreme circumstances we will bring the time of the war closer to home. With the use of authentic photos and videos, and by explaining the events from all perspectives, we will find out about the motives of the people involved, and we will ultimately ask the question:

Could this happen again in our time?

We avoid the tourist traps and will drive just north of Amsterdam to visit the typical polder landscape and villages of Noord Holland. We will see how 16th century windmills drained the lakes and created this unique landscape. We will visit original villages and windmills and get a great view of how centuries of Dutch engineering fought against the elements. During our day we have the opportunity to rent bikes or a boat to really enjoy the peace and quiet and see things from a different perspective. Away from the crowds.

We will end our day in Alkmaar, a great middle sized town where on Fridays the famous cheese market is held. A nice town to stroll around, do some shopping or just sit down with a drink and relax.

The Amsterdam of the Middle Ages, when it was a very religious city, the golden age of Amsterdam where Rembrandt, among many others, walked around, the city of the Jews, the traders and the city of generally crazy people. Amsterdam also has many little known museums we can visit if you like. The excellent Canal museum, the house where Rembrandt lived and painted, our Lord in the Attic are great examples of places we can go to if you like, especially when the weather is disappointing, which does happen sometimes.

You let me know what you like to do most. In Amsterdam everything is a short walk away, so we can easily improvise and experience the city in a unique way.

Rembrandt lived and worked in Amsterdam during its period of most explosive growth. In this walk we will discover where he lived and went about his business, where he painted some his most famous paintings, who his customers were and where he got his inspiration from. By using some of his paintings we will also tell the story of Amsterdam in the 17th century, and make the city come to live, in the footsteps of the great artist. Some of his best work is from his last years, when he had fallen out of favour eventually dying a poor man. We will find out why that happened.

From its modest beginnings along the river Amstel, Amsterdam received its city right almost 750 years ago. in this extensive walk we will discover the city in that 750 year history. The catholic pilgim destination, its problems around the alteration, the explosive growth to a leading center of the world, its decline and redicovery in the 20th century. The trade, culture, tolerance, religion and slighty crazy sides of this unique city will all be shown in this entertaining walk. We vivit the old town, red light district, the canals, the beaiful churches and much more. And we take it easy, with enough time to watch the world pass by from a terras with a typical Dutch meal and drink.

Alkmaar is a beautiful town just 40 minutes drive from Amsterdam by train or car. Almost a miniature Amsterdam it is great to avoid the biggest crowds and stil enjoy a historical market square where I will you the stories that belong to this place. I take you back to Holland of the Golden Age, the historical battle against the Spanish and the unique little streets of the old Town. On a friday we could visit the Cheese Market, but on other days there is also enough cheese to go around. A unique little trip away from the crowds.

Amsterdam was under occupation from 1940 to 1945. in this walk I will show you the initial period, the strike against the first Jewish deportations, the Jewish quarter, the resistance, normal life in Amsterdam, the winter of hunger and eventually the liberation with its horrible climax on Dam Square.

I will show pictures of the war where they were taken to bring the stories and events to life. Visits of museums are optional but possible, as all my tours are made to measure to your wishes.

We will walk in the footsteps of Anne Frank and learn about the World War 2 stories, events and motives from a Jewish, Dutch and German perspective.

I will take you to the places Anne Frank lived, played and went to school before going into hiding, places that look today almost exactly like it was in her time.
