Why do you like being a broker?

I like being able to help people no matter what their circumstances. It’s a good feeling when you help someone in to their first home, buying an investment property or just making their life easier by helping them consolidate their debts into one smaller more manageable repayment.

Why do you like working for uno?

I like working with UNO Home Loans as we are an online brokerage and this means I get to help people all over Australia. In many cases I get to help people in smaller towns where there’s not brokers and only access to one lender. This means they are generally stuck on a rate with that one particular lender and I can generally arrange a much lower rate for them as I have access to 29 different lenders and hundreds of products.  

Can you share some advice for someone who is taking out a loan?

Always look around at all your options and don’t just take any rate offered to you. There are so many lenders out there willing to offer lower rates and products with no or low fees.

What’s your favourite thing to do outside work?

I love going to the gym as it’s great to clear my mind and good for the body. I also like getting out in nature and walking around with my headphones on listening to music. Travelling to all parts of the world is something I started doing around about 5 years ago now and love seeing all different cultures.

Why do you like being a broker?

I enjoy my role as a mortgage broker as I believe I do make a real difference in my clients eyes. Whether it’s taking the stress out of them having to deal directly with the banks, finding a solution for them where none of the banks have been able to or just making the whole home loan process much easier for them.

Why do you like working for uno?

I love working for UNO because of the people I work with, we all have a common goal of going above and beyond for our clients and making UNO the best business it can be. We have great technology which sets us apart and enhances what we have to offer.

Can you share some advice for someone who is taking out a loan?

The advice I would share with someone who is looking to take out a loan is ensure you pay all your liabilities such as credit cards and other loans on time and keep them within their limits as not doing this will definitely impact your likelihood of getting a loan.

What’s your most rewarding customer success story?

One of my most rewarding customer success stories was helping a lovely couple getting their loan approved. They had been through some hard times due to illness and had no success getting a loan through the banks. I provided them some advise and guidance to follow over the coming 3 months which they followed through on. I was able to successfully refinance their loan to a much lower interest rate than their current one thus saving them a significant sum, they were extremely happy.

What’s your favourite thing to do outside work?

I love to go to the beach with my family in the warmer months where we like to swim, surf and kayak.

Helping customers Navigate through what may be the biggest financial decision brings me great joy. The ability to provide suitable loan options  and be a one touch solutions provider to the Customer ”that’s fulfilment”

Can you share some advice for someone who is taking out a loan?

Tips:

Make timely repayments on any loan facility -Credit cards and personal loans you may have.

Avoid unnecessary spending on your everyday transaction account at least 3 months before applying for a home loan e.g Gambling

To maintain a good credit score, Avoid shopping around for loan facilities especially with payday lenders this is a red flag with Major lenders.

Why do you like being a broker?

I get a thrill every time when my customers are able to fulfill their dreams, whether buying a property for the first time or refinancing to a better product. The thought that I was able to assist and provide them with the best possible advice in achieving their dreams, it makes my day as a broker.

Why do you like working for uno?

I have been in lending and technology for nearly three decades now and worked for some amazing companies. But uno is something unique and special when it comes to customer service. The team is innovative in providing the latest technology to make the customer experience smooth and, of course, I get to work with amazing individuals who have one thing in common - to make uno Home Loans … numero uno! The name certainly fits our culture.

Can you share some advice for someone who is taking out a loan?

I would say the very first thing is to do the numbers, perhaps ask yourself questions such as: Can I afford this loan?, Do I have a stable employment and source income? Would I be able to commit to the monthly repayments? Is my credit score healthy? What’s your most rewarding customer success story? Customers needed to refinance & consolidate quite a few debts; Good income on both applicants but cash-flow very poor due to the monthly repayments on all liabilities. Not many lenders were willing to take on these clients, found a lender whee the valuation came lower than expected. Still managed to consolidate major debts to 80%, the end result after settlement they were able to save almost $1900 per month, therefore improving their cash-flow dramatically!

What’s your favourite thing to do outside work?

Cooking & entertaining big crowds at home Music - collecting vintage stuff mainly in Jazz & Blues; Reading - ancient history
