About the company
Black History Matters is a Presentation House Theatre program that uses the Arts to explore Black Canadian History and impact unintended bias in K-7 students by honing in on three core competencies: communication, critical thinking and personal and social development. Students are asked to question, comment and connect with the material that is presented and see how it interconnects with the world around them.Our team

Alisha Davidson
Alisha (she/they) is a multidisciplinary artist of Jamaican decent living on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Watuth First Nations. A theatre graduate from Canterbury Arts School and Studio 58 this year Alisha is co-producing the 3rd annual Unbound Reading Series.
I'm excited to be returning to the classroom! As a Black performance artist living and working on these Coast Salish Territories, I consider it an awesome privilege to share about the rich history of Black resilience and excellence within Canada and specifically British Columbia.

A prolific artist, Ghislaine Doté started her stage career as a dancer and choreographer, before embracing a new path as a singer, actor and composer.
A bilingual performer, Ghislaine was born in France, grew up in Cote d'Ivoire and spent her adulthood in Montreal where she completed a double BA in Contemporary Dance.
