Fancy a xc clinic in a small group (no more than 3) with a fully qualified BHS equestrian coach? Never tried before but would like to give it a go in a friendly, fun and no-pressure environment? Perhaps you haven't schooled on a xc course for a long time and would like to get started again? Or maybe you just love XC and want to jump in the saddle & fly over some jumps with a coach on hand to give you guidance and advice?

This is the Horses 4 Health event which will tick all those boxes! By very kind courtesy of Mid Surrey Pony Club, a XC clinic will be held on Sunday 21st August 2022 with classes to suit all abilities, ages and strengths. The field is fully secure with unlimited parking and toilets on site. 

Each class will for a maximum of 3 riders for 1 hour. Please specify your preferred group type when booking via the drop down field. You will be allocated a time according to the number of riders wishing to take part. You will be notified of the time 5-7 days beforehand via email. We expect the first class to be at 10.30am, followed by 12:00 noon, 2:00pm and 3.15pm.  There will be a 10 minute discussion prior to each group session for you to discuss with the coach your own aspirations and objectives for the session.

But there's more! Why not book on to the Stretch & Relax clinic with our very own fully qualified & insured Fitness Instructor for a 30 minute stretching session. Under the close gaze of our instructor you will be shown how to correctly stretch your muscles and be shown a range of different stretch positions. And there's still more! Join us for a picnic after your XC clinic - we will provide a selection for sandwiches, snacks, cakes & tipples and simply ask for a cash donation (you choose the value) towards the cost of the catering. Join our South West Co-ordinator for a lovely ride starting from Barton End Stables, GL6

This will be7-10 mile ride at varying speeds around the perimeter of Gatcombe with pub stop en route to grab a tipple - so remember some cash or your card!

The route is beautiful with amazing views over to Gatcombe. 

Plenty of parking n site on hard-standing. - water on site for horses.

Please ensure you clear away any manure / rubbish before departing

Join our Founder, Sophie Gifford, who will guide a group of riders from Eartham Woods, up on to the South Downs via Bignor Hill. This ride will be c. 7 miles long & will take c. 2 hours - there is a water trough on route for the horses to drink at. 

Enjoy spectacular scenery with views out to the English Channel. Take a blast, or leisurely trot/canter (!) up grassy farmland (steep hill) to the top of Bignor Hill. 

Eartham Woods has the historical Monarchs Way passing through it which was ridden by English army on their route down south.

Horsebox/trailer parking will be at Eartham Woods HorseBox park - full details will be given ahead of the ride. The car park can accommodate up 5 x 3.5T horseboxes. Please double up as much as possible so that we can get more riders on the route. 

NB: Some of the tracks are stony, however, the grass verges are good so barefooters should be fine. There will be a prompt start time of 6.30pm so that we make the most of the evening light.

Get back to nature and re-charge your batteries on this fabulous ride through the stunning re-wilding landscape of the Knepp Estate,  deep in the West Sussex countryside. These self-guided routes (you will be provided with a route plan as well as some route markers) will take you through amazing countryside. Ride through the shaded bridleways from the starting point (one road to cross with a road crossing marshall on hand to assist). Marvel at the free-roaming deer, stags, long horn cattle and Tamworth pigs - all of whom are well-used to riders passing by!

You may even spot one of the storks which have successfully bred on the Knepp Estate for the first time in 500 years! In 2022 we have had 4 chicks hatch on Monday 9th May and more to come! Stop off at the Countryman Inn and 'park' your trusty steed in the horse coral where, if you choose to, you enjoy a refreshing drink!  (bring cash!) Ride Description: A lovely ride in the Black Mountains using bridleways, lanes, forestry and open hill with a stream crossing on all routes (diversion available). Ride Description: This is a stunning ‘old fashioned’ endurance ride on the edge of Nidderdale. Day one heads south towards Fewston Reservoir, and day two heads north west towards Appletreewick, over an area of outstanding natural beauty. The route covers private land with mown grassy headlands, ancient byway over open moorland, shooting tracks, bridleways, green lanes, permissive forestry tracks and some quiet roads. It is hilly, and a challenge, but there is enough good going to make up for the bits where you have to take your time. Approx 20% roadwork, mostly with usable verges.

Starting from a spacious venue field in the heart of Buckminster village we have EXCLUSIVE access to parts of Buckminster Park which has kindly been allowed by the Tollemache family who own the estate. The longer routes also will be covering parts of the Viking Way and the rural villages in the area. Ride Description: A D3C Ride. The ride takes in bridleways, green lanes and some country lanes, ending with an optional farm loop. The route is not a fast ride but an opportunity to ride up the medical pack horse trail, Long Causeway to Stanage Pole. Here the views spanning Sheffield. The route also passes by historic North Lees Hall of Bronte fame. The ride finishes with a ride through fields back to the venue. There is some road work, stony tracks, there are 2 shallow river crosses on the farm loop which can be avoided.

Ride Description: Come ride the Mynd. After a successful training ride last year I am hoping this ride will grow into a regular feature of the calendar. Please come and support us and if not riding I am sure I can find a job for any willing volunteers! The Mynd is very special and you are in for a riding treat. We can have 4 seasons in a day and the views can be awesome if the Weather Gods like us. This is a classic tough hilly ride over an amazing piece of open moorland, forest trails and hard packed paths. If you want a challenge come and join us. There is 5% roadwork depending on route and this year I am hoping to take the route around the gliding club rather than across it! This ride is an adventure itself without more challenges!

Come & join Horses4Health on this stunning ride of approx 2.5-  3 hours starting from Lanark Moor County Park, Lanark Racecourse, ML11 9TA. This is a large public area & parking may carry a charge by the municipality. It is located opposite the Scottish Equestrian Hotel. 

The ride will take in the beauty of the Royal Burgh of Lanark as well as the New Lanark World Heritage site, journeying along tracks, bridleways & fields with only very small amounts of roadwork. At the end of the ride why not linger over a picnic - don't forget to pack your sarnies!

This ride will be for a maximum of 30 riders - the group will set off together so please consider your horse's confidence & behaviour in a larger group. We encourage people to wear ribbons in their horses' tails: Green = youngster/novice   Red: horse potentially kicks

Riders should have their own personal/public liability insurance.

Please ensure you park respectfully & remove all rubbish & manure droppings prior to leaving. Vehciles should be locked whilst you ride. All vehicles are parked at owners own risk.

This ride will be led by a volunteer - they bear no responsibility or liability for riders or their belongings.

Join our Founder, Sophie Gifford, who will guide a group of riders from Eartham Woods, up on to the South Downs via Bignor Hill. This ride will be c. 7 miles long & will take c. 2 hours - there is a water trough on route for the horses to drink at. 

Enjoy spectacular scenery with views out to the English Channel. Take a blast, or leisurely trot/canter (!) up grassy farmland (steep hill) to the top of Bignor Hill.  

Eartham Woods has the historical Monarchs Way passing through it. The Way follows the path taken by King Charles II as he fled to France following the sound thrashing of his army at the Battle of Worcester in 1651 in the English Civil War. His passage through West Sussex and on to France was masterminded by Colonel Gunter of Racton, west of Chichester, who made arrangements for the King to be smuggled to France in a coal ship via the port at Shoreham-by-Sea.

King Charles arrived in Sussex near Stansted Park, north of Emsworth. The Way goes from here across Kingley Vale, along the southern slopes of the South Downs around West Dean and the the Lavant Valley, over Trundle Hill and then down to Arundel.

From Arundel the route passes along the South Downs Way above Storrington, overshoots Shoreham by heading to Steyning and then proceeds towards Brighton, where the King was recognised by an over-excited pub landlord.

Our route from Eartham Woods will take us along part of the Monarchs Way up to Bignor Hill and then back down through the woods. Horsebox/trailer parking will be at Eartham Woods HorseBox park - full details will be given ahead of the ride. The car park can accommodate up 5 x 3.5T horseboxes. Please double up as much as possible so that we can get more riders on the route. 

NB: Some of the tracks are stony, however, the grass verges are good so barefooters should be fine.  This will be an 0900 start to ensure parking spaces are available as the parking is public and cannot be reserved. Please arrive promptly & be ready to set off for 0900!

Can be stoney in places so barefoot horses may do better booted. Hilly ride with stunning views. Had the best feedback of all pleasure rides run in 2021. Route will be ridden in reverse to last year and a different short route has been added. 20km has a Mock GER option which is open to experienced riders on new horses/ponies and riders new to endurance who want to have a go at competitive endurance but want to know more.
