"It's a dangerous business, going out your door" This is the tale of a band of brave and unusually curious Hobbits from The Shire.

Inspired by the stories of Bilbo's travels and his venerable knowledge of hobbit kind history, they set out to discover if an old tale is true...

“The city of Alcandria is blessed by the gods, blessed by its divinely-appointed rulers,

blessed by its access to extraplanar riches, and most of all blessed by its heroic defenders.

You are part of the Highguard, the city’s elite warriors and mages who ensure that no harm

can come to this glorious realm. Today is the festival of kites, and the city’s youngest ruler is

greeting a delegation from a distant star. However, none could foresee the disaster that

would unfold...

This game session is a story of epic heroes defending a goodly place from

monstrous and evil opponents. In tone this is silver-plated fantasy – clarion trumpets and

polished marble to show the majesty of your home, free from moral ambiguity or anti-heroes.

This will be a one-session story, with a mixture of big action beats and social scenes,

designed to provide a satisfying narrative in the vein of epic fantasy novels. Pre-generated

characters will be provided, using the Dungeons and Dragons 5 th Edition ruleset.

many years. Built over several generations, it has now been deserted by its former owners,

and left to time and the elements. However, that is not the end of the story, for Xyntillan’s

fabulous treasures and Machiavellian deathtraps continue to fascinate the fortune-seekers of

a dozen lands – and never mind the ghost stories!”

This game session is a one-shot expedition to the haunted manor of Castle

Xyntillan. We will make characters at the start of the session, following the rules of the

Swords & Wizardry system, and venturing into the castle for the rest of the session.

Treasure and glory awaits! - at least, for those who survive… The tone here is campy horror,

similar to things like the 7 th Guest and Evil Dead, but within a fantasy adventuring framework.

You can expect to solve puzzles, to meet the ghoulish denizens of the castle, to perhaps try

fighting them, flirting with them, or fleeing from them – and most of all to have freedom to

explore the castle as you see fit.
