About the company

Shepperton Open Water Swim is a family run training venue for swimmers who want to swim outdoors in a natural clean environment. We are home to all levels of swimmer from breaststrokers who chat their way around the lake to world class athletes. As long as you are capable, comfortable and confident swimming in a deep open water environment we welcome you. Our minimum age is 18+yrs with no upper limit - younger swimmers have to book in separately and swim with our coach. New swimmer to our lake? With strict safety procedures to keep you safe we ask all new swimmers to complete an induction & swim test on their first visit which takes around 10-15 mins. Once the induction has been successfully completed you can swim out on our swim courses. We have two swim loops: 400m and 750m marked out which are carefully placed so that all swimmers are easily visible to our safety team. Our friendly SOWS team are here to help you get acquainted with our lake, help you adjust and start you off on your journey to becoming part of our amazing swim community. Ferris Meadow Lake is a site of nature conservational interest so we encourage swimmers to take the time to breathe, stop for a moment and appreciate all that mother nature has surrounded us with. We are proud of the diverse species that we share our lake with and ask that all visitors respect and support our passion for biodiversity.We like to call our set up "rustic" but we have everything you need to have a fantastic swim. Our onsite facilities are - Triton Outdoors - shop providing rental wetsuits (try before you buy), goggles, tow floats, wetsuits to buy and other high quality related kit. Swim coaching is available for technique and swim efficiency, training and event planning but the main aim our coach is to help you learn to love the water.Food and drinks are available from Ferris Fuel Station whenever we are open,Outdoor showers (mains water) for rinsing after your swimOur site is very rustic and outdoorsy so come prepared to get changed in the open - toilets are available.Onsite parking Bike Racks (please bring a lock)Dogs are welcome on site if they are friendly but they MUST be kept on a lead at all times. Dog waste must be collected and taken off site with you. Children can be on site if accompanied by a responsible adult. Children are not allowed on the beach entry area, must never be left unattended or allowed in/near the water at any point around the lake.
