About the company

Stuart Bligh is a gigging musician who has been teaching guitar to students of all ages for over 20 years. Stuart teaches privately and at schools. Many of his students have achieved recording and gigging success. All levels welcome. Training is delivered by Zoom link online.

"Never mind your neighbours - play a bit louder"!!

I cannot recommend Stuart highly enough to anyone either starting out on the guitar or wanting to improve their playing. He is a gifted and knowledgeable musician, and an incredibly patient teacher, adapting the lesson to suit the pupil, whilst still pushing you to achieve, and always encouraging you along the way. I fully expected Stuart after a few weeks to tell me there was no chance I'd ever be able to play, but even I can play a few recognisable tunes now, which is a major achievement in itself - even if I do get told I'm not playing loud enough!! I still think I could do with some finger extensions though Stuart!!

Should've started 50 years ago !

Stu is a great guitarist and a great guitar teacher. Very encouraging and complimentary, and always trying to get the absolute best out of you. He's very patient too - thank goodness ! (Wish I'd started at 10 rather than 60, then maybe those barre chords wouldn't hurt so much !). Would recommend Stu without hesitation.

Top quality teacher!

My 8 year old has learned a whole stack of fantastic tunes over the last couple of years thanks to Stuart which has kept him engaged and interested in learning the guitar. All mixed in with some bits of theory and best practice to instill good habits from an early age. Fantastic teacher!

"Don't worry we're not going to start with Twinkle Twinkle!"

As soon as I heard Stuart say this on my first lesson... I knew I had the right teacher! I was a complete novice with no technical musical knowledge or guitar experience, yet at the end of my first lesson I was strumming a recognisable tune... and no it wasn’t Twinkle Twinkle... but House of the Rising Sun. Stuart has the loveliest of teaching styles just enough nurture but always pushing you forward. He really knows his stuff too from many years of performing with his awesome band, playing solo and accompanying singers at his popular open mic’s. After just a few lessons I had the skills and confidence to play at open mic.myself. Now almost two years later he is helping me to develop more techniques and styles to add fun to practice and depth to any performance. Thanks Stu for helping me find a love I never knew I had for guitar, Highly recommended, and a lovely guy who’s off stage modesty is as big as his talent is awesome.

Great with younger players.

Stuart has been teaching my son for a couple of years now and I really appreciate the time and effort he puts into my sons lessons (he’s not the easiest to deal with!) My son, who is 11, is now a very competent player and I would recommend Stuart to anybody looking for a tutor for their children.

Great teacher

Stu is an experienced, patient, knowledgeable guitar tutor. He pitches the lesson just right. He's encouraging and positive. If there's a particular song you want help with he'll break it down in a manageable way for you. Highly recommended.
