Cowen Studios is a portrait and school photography business, serving the Ark-La-Tex since 1954. We are also home to "Shoot Like A Pro" photography classes.
Do you love taking photos but don't always get the results you want? Wouldn't it be nice to know how to set up your camera under any lighting conditions, to get that perfect shot? How would you like to make "Professional" looking images that "WOW" your friends and family, whether using your DSLR camera or even a smart phone? Then, "SHOOT LIKE A PRO!" is for you!
"Shoot Like A Pro!" classes are presented by Neal Cowen, a second generation photographer with over 40 years of professional experience. Neal has owned portrait, glamour and school photography businesses in Louisiana, Texas and Missouri and has presented seminars and programs to professional photographers, their staff and aspiring photographers, throughout the United States. In 2018, Neal began teaching individuals, from around the Ark-La-Tex, how to "Shoot Like A Pro," with monthly classes for beginners to advanced, at his studio, located at 4360 Youree Drive, in Shreveport.
BASIC & ADVANCED classes require students to bring their own DSLR Camera.

Beginners Photo Class
2.5 Hour Introductory class designed to prepare you immediately to capture better photographs of people, pet and scenic landscapes with either your DSLR camera or smart phone. Bringing your personal DSLR camera is not required for this course, but heavily encouraged. This one day class is offered on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 6:00pm-8:30pm.

Basic Photography Class

Details: 6 hour class instruction + personal instruction (small groups) photographing indoors and out. How to properly set your camera for every situation and subject matter. Proper choice of equipment, Posing, Lighting, Composition, Depth of Field. Personal DSLR Camera required.
*Please purchase this class to reserve your spot for both days, even If you cannot attend both classes the same week. Students may easily reschedule and attend any "Part B" class that is available and convenient for them.

8 Hours of photography and instruction: Indoors & Out on location, with an emphasis on photography as a career. One additional hour and a half of "One on One" follow up time with Neal, to be used in the 30 days following the class, is also included, for a total of 9 1/2 hours. Please bring your personal DSLR Camera. This class is offered every 3rd SATURDAY of each month, from 9:00am-5:00pm.
*We will take a break from 12:30-1:30 when lunch will be provided.
