The History Department is now offering free writing tutoring for all students. Jenny, the Department tutor, is also a tutor at the Writing Learning Center. In the History Writing Center, She can help you draft your ideas, look over final drafts, and assist you with any questions you may have. The History Writing Center is equipped to answer questions about theses, focus, mechanics, development, and even citations.

This service is for students who are in grades k thru 5. This service will be provided at the Howard County Central Library. This service costs $30 per 30 minutes. There will be no refunds for cancellations. Parents are required to send a picture of an assignment that indicates the topic the tutor is cover at least 24 hrs. prior to 410-645-0374 or info@marylandstemprogram.com. If the image is not received timely, the tutor will select a topic on the student's grade level. The tutor will also provide assignments/study materials for the student to complete as optional homework. 

This service is for students who are in grades 6 thru 8 who are taking math 6, math 7, or math 8. This service is not for students in middle school who are taking Algebra 1, Algebra 2, or a full Geometry course. This service will be provided at the Howard County Central Library. To reteach content to achieve proficiency in specific subjects through differentiated instruction. Work on organization and study skills to develop micro steps within problem areas in order to fully comprehend independent learning. Provide supplementary practice problems and notes to continue working on proficiency. Recommended for students who are falling behind in grade level subjects and concepts

To create individualized learning strategies for teaching new skills or building on a skill. Focuses on how to use critical thinking to apply skills to new settings or circumstances. Struggle with a variety of learning skills; time management and organization, note taking skills, submitting homework. Recommended for students who are at risk of failing, significantly behind in grade level   subjects, and for students with developmental disabilities.

To learn content through advanced lesson concepts. Gives students more of a challenge on subject matter. Keeping a student engaged, Maintaining interest in learning. Developing a deeper understanding of subject content. Recommended for students who are learning above grade, who need continuous or advanced subject matter education.
