At SagaCamp, our goal is simple: to provide a safe and active community to inspire travellers to experience the culture, history, people and nature of Rangárvallarsýsla county as a whole, both for foreigners and Icelanders.Our energy and burning desire to share the beauty of our province with visitors stems from our family's deep roots in the region.Our campsite is family-owned and operated by Gardar and Asta Olafsdottir and family. Asta's father, Olafur Olafsson, was a prominent figure in Hvolsvöllur's history, known for his tireless dedication to community building and service. As the director of Kaupfélag Rangæinga for many years, Olafur played a critical role in the economic development of Rangárvallarsýsla county. He was also a founding member of the Rotary Club, as well as the Bridge & Chess Club of Rangárvallarsýsla county, which helped foster a sense of community and camaraderie in the region.In his later years, Olafur turned his attention to issues affecting senior citizens, working tirelessly to establish the Association of Senior Citizens in Rangárvallasýsla County.
